Dahan Creek, the trunk stream of the Tamshui River, originates from the Pintian Mountain that lies at the border of Jianshi township, Hsinchu County and Heiping district, Taichung City.

It passes through Daxi (Taoyuan City), Sanxia-Yingge (New Taipei City), enters the Taipei Basin, and then converges with the Xindian Creek at Jiangzicui (Banqiao District, New Taipei City) to become the Tamshui River, the source of history and culture of the Greater Taipei Area.

Haishan is the gateway of the Tamshui River to the Greater Taipei Area, and also the threshold of our acquaintance with the life story of the Tamshui River Basin.
